RSS can be a difficult concept for some to grasp right away - what questions do you have?

Is there any way to get rid of posts from other blogs that I have already read without deleting the blog?

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of blogs out there - how do you handle information overload and how do you think RSS might help with that?

This way I can pick and choose what info I want by using the list method and hoving over the post to see the expanded view to tell whether I want to spend the time on the post.

Find anything in your searching that you'd recommend to others?

I like art and dancing... I will be looking up various blogs on those at my leisure.

How might you use RSS in your personal or professional life?
I can keep current on current events as well as keep up to date with professional organizations.

Which method of subscribing do you prefer?
I prefer to subscribe from the actual website - as it keeps me from putting in the wrong URL... I am not the "strongest" typer.

What didn't work or doesn't make sense?
I couldn't get my Detroit News link to work. It asked if I had the right URL - but I cut and pasted... I will figure it out a differnt time.

I sure do LOVE 23 things! I just lost the last post that I was writing about Thing 4 - so I am typing again! Ah! Technology - don't ya just love it?!

I was able to subscribe to several news organizations and the WEB recognition WEB-site :-)

I have looked at other blogs and commented on Mr. Marabeas' blog. Apparently that makes me a follower now, because now I have 14 entries from Mr. M. in my "follow" box. I am starting to feel my blood pressure rise as I think that this might be one more "thing" I have to keep track of and update - It is for this very reason that I refuse to join the world of Facebook. At some point, my life has to be lived without being tied to a piece of technology - (i.e. I have a TracFone... I use it in emergencies... I don't even text others cuz' it costs .3 of a minute!). I wonder if I am just holding out for something better!

Thing 1 & Thing 2

I am participating in 23 Things so that I can be more effective in the classroom.

I hope to learn how to reach even more students through videos and on line interactions... and I would like to learn more of "their world."
The new insights that I have gained during my interactions during Thing 1: The video was eye-opening. I am interested in learning more about how to meet kids "where they live." I also felt my "age" and my "digital immigrant" status... (was there a special box that I was suppose to check on my census forms?)

Writing on the Internet, knowing anyone could read it, changes how I write because I really pay attention to my grammar, spelling, and I specifically concentrate on the content of my writing. Writing makes me uncomfortable because I always feel like I need someone (who is super-smart) to proofread my thoughts, so that they make sense to others. "Math and logic puzzles are my thing," and I don't feel the "logic" in most things language arts-y... I really try, and I am getting better! "Ain't I?" (Ha-ha!)
